His books are always, to a certain degree, will make you feel guilty about your actions and be an agent of change yourself. This book is dedicated to media practitioners that this may serve as a way for them to start lumayo ka nga sa akin bob ong difference and uphold the values that is much needed rather than feed the minds of the general public with unsubstantial content.

You are commenting using your Facebook account. I like the book, its a wake up call to all of us, and he still manage to make me laugh at some points.

The plot generally follows themes from classic Filipino action movies, as well as comedy films from early s to s. By Goldie at These three parts, which are of different genres, all contain criticisms on the different aspects of Philippine television and media in general.

Lumayo Ka Nga Sa Akin gave a full-length picture of the characters and the message it wants to convey by using the first person and screenplay format. Charlotte Fiel October 15, at 8: It talks about lumayo ka nga sa akin bob ong billboard fiesta in our major roads. This book really contains a lot!

Lumayo Ka Nga Sa Akin encourages its readers and the youth to read akim. What I also like about this book is how the author encouraged the youth to read. The author values reading and he knows the value of books in shaping the minds of the youth. Instead of criticizing the books that the youth read today, we should applaud them for reading and encourage them to read diversely. He shows us the slap-in-the-face reality. He doesn't only criticizes but also offer suggestions. The message and intention of this book is clear.

The author wants us to be an intelligent Filipino consumer and viewer. We should demand better content. Maximize and properly use the resources being given to us. We should not use the different social media platforms just for our rants and whines but rather to air our dismay in the current system. There are a lot of things to be done and a lot of things that needs to be changed and definitely nothing will happen unless we start it.

If we just keep mum about this things that's happening, producers and media companies will continue to sell us the same content. Unless our taste change, nothing will happen. This book is dedicated to media practitioners that this may serve as a way for them to start the difference and uphold the values that is much needed rather than feed the minds of the general public with unsubstantial content.

Like with other Bob Ong books, this book hopes for changes. Tatawa lang sila at sisisihin ang sistema. Ang laging bida at walang kamatayang sistema. Mar 25, Maan rated it it was amazing Shelves: Book 25 for I have always been a fan of Bob Ong.

A for effort. Lumayo Ka Nga Sa Akin is a trilogy. The title of the first story is Bala sa Bala. Kamao sa Kama Book 25 for Kamao sa Kamao, Satsat sa Satsat. Second story, Shake Shaker Shakest my favorite story in the bunch.

The third story was called Asawa ni Marie.

At least madaling paligayahin. Baka kasi may masulat akong spoilers eh. Enough about the book. I want to talk about the author now. Last week, I attended a conference on Intellectual Property.

Bakit ko sinasabi to?

Astig eh. His books are trash! I respect your opinion.

And I quote: Feeling laging matalino.

Meron kaming Ora Engkantada. Meron kaming Battle of the Brains. Meron kaming Batibot — limang araw sa isang linggo, dalawang beses sa isang araw. At maraming-marami kaming English na cartoons. Bayaan mo, Ron, pag yumaman tayo, gagawa tayo ng maraming magagandang palabas na pambata sa TV Your to me my everything.

Wala kaya tayong internet!

Jan 22, Alvin rated it really liked it.

Muling dumilat. At dahan dahang pinilit ngumiti. At muling tuluyang napapikit.

At unti unting magtataka.

Basta kailangan lahat may entertainment factor.

Number 1! Sana may part 2! Jan 04, AennA rated it really liked it Shelves: I was a bit surprised when I found out that he released his 9th book.

I've been following his twitter, and facebook pages and I didn't read much press release about the book, like what happened with the Ang Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan.

It has become a habit of mine to frequent Bibliarch in Makati just to check new books that might interest me, and there, I saw his new book. I was surprised with the cover, and I thought it was someone else's until something hit me - it was with Bob Ong's book, so it must be his. Bob Ong is one of the famous Filipino writers flourishing in the current generation.

His funny, entertaining way of discussing life's realities endeared him to the heart of the Filipino readers. I salute him for his ability to encourage the youth back to reading. I have never seen the younger people so excited over a new book, even hounding the publishers or Bob Ong himself through social media for a new book. The book's cover might deceive you to think that it's the usual Filipino love story books, but it's not.

Designed with a pink cover, the size of the usual pocketbook, and with two people in distorted, monstrous-look.

It was written in a script format, with the characters all playing a role in a movie. It reminded me of the famous Shake, Rattle in Roll, which has three episodes in one movie. First episode in Bob Ong's book is under action-comedy genre, the next one is a horror, and the last one is on drama. In each movie genre being played with, he discussed the mediocrity and those obvious nonsensical, stereotyped approach in Filipino movies.

There were also snippets of ordinary Filipino's lives, and on how we live our lives revolving around the superficials, and commercialism. The book also talked about the marketing and advertising approach of businesses, and how they try to influence our mindset in buying their products. Of course, personally, being part of that industry, I understand his sentiments and I know why businesses has to go through that procedure. But, then, individuals has to understand the whole "brainwashing" procedure, so we can set aside our choices being lord over by commercialism, and instead focus on making decisions with wise mind and self-control.

There are a lot more insights we can get from this book, and don't jump to conclusion that this is a preachy book. Bob Ong didn't let go of his signature style of entertaining and witfully done jokes and approach in story telling. I feel the need to share that I cried so hard as I laughed with all his funny lines. You'll never stop reading the book once you get hold of it.

I read the book in just a day. It's a fun, and very entertaining book. Almost everyone can surely relate in everything that was discussed in the book. Sep 13, Kolat Tagasaamin rated it liked it. One of the favorite contemporary Filipino writer among young generation. Well, it will become a movie soon, and i am very excited to watch it. It was divided by three parts. Combat with pick-up lines,Lazy protagonist and One of the favorite contemporary Filipino writer among young generation.

I always saw this kind of scene in action films especially in some other or maybe most of the film of Ceasar Montano, Robin Padilla, and Fernando Poe Jr. Some of the cast of an horror film was proclaiming that they funded it so much and compare it to the standard of Hollywood which it very not close enough. Bob Ong have a point, these three kind of movie genres including television and other media is not very anticipating and just killing the Filipino Cinema but the kind of over used and uncreative due to the name of the business.

It already a poison to some people and lessen their humanity. Feb 19, Janus the Erudite Artist rated it it was ok Shelves: You only need to open one of his books to make you feel guilty of your own biases and try to change for the better. The book is written in a script-like format where you see the dialog, setting and whatnot of each scene that is supposedly parts of a film. I understand what the author is trying to point out to its readers, but somehow all the sarcasm just made it hard for me to appreciate it.

I know that aside from the jokes and bickers, there are sardonic takes on the issues whenever Bob Ong writes his books. After reading the other 8 books though, I feel like the whole tactic is just getting old. For more of my reviews, please visit my blog: The Blair Book Project www. View all 5 comments. He is such a witty but playful writer. He is known for using conversational Filipino to create humorous and reflective depictions of Philippine life.

Well, at first, I thought that the book was a romantic novel. As expected, the book is really funny. Lumayo Ka Nga Sa Akin is a collection of three different stories: The book is truly entertaining in its comic approach, but it is also an eye-opener. Using his signature style of writing, combining both humor and satire, Bob Ong has a compelling way of telling the Filipino readers that there are those important current events in our society that we need to attend to.

View all 6 comments.
